Tul Bahadur Pun And The Daily Mirror

EDM number 1605 in 2006-07, proposed by Dai Davies on 05/06/2007.

That this House congratulates the Daily Mirror on its campaign that successfully forced the Government to see sense and permit war hero Tul Bahadur Pun, a former Gurkha, to live in Britain; recognises that Gurkha Pun, currently living in his home country of Nepal, won the Victoria Cross for his bravery in the Second World War, and wants to end his days in the UK, the country for whose defence he was prepared to lay down his life; believes he has every right to receive excellent NHS treatment for his current ailments and to be amongst his old comrades; and believes the Mirror campaign should be replicated by it and other newspapers to right other wrongs in society, such as compensation for British atomic test veterans and their families.

This motion has been signed by a total of 53 MPs.
