That this House notes the importance and prestige of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, which has an estimated global audience of over 500 million; believes that it was a great honour for the United Kingdom and Yorkshire to be chosen as hosts for the event; commends the efforts of the IFFA Brand Ambassador Amitab Bachdan; congratulates Shilpa Shetty for the award she received recognising the dignity she displayed during her experience in the Big Brother house; further congratulates Wembley-born Upen Patel for winning the Newcomer of the Year Award; further notes that the Indian film industry sells more than three and a half billion cinema tickets per year; and hopes that the 2007 IIFA Awards ceremony marks a further strengthening of the strong relationship between the British and Indian cultural industries.
