URDD CENTRE'S 75th BIRTHDAY

EDM number 1767 in 2006-07, proposed by Mark Williams on 25/06/2007.

That this House notes that the Urdd Centre in Llangrannog, Ceredigion opened in 1932 to give children and young people the chance to learn and socialise through the medium of Welsh; further notes that the Centre has recently been refurbished and now welcomes more than 25,000 visitors a year, and has around 50,000 members; further notes that these members have the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities, play sports, practise performing arts, read magazines for young people in the Welsh language and promote a message of peace and goodwill to other cultures in the world; is aware of the key contribution the Urdd Centre makes to the local economy; congratulates the Urdd Centre for 75 years of service in promoting the Welsh language and Welsh culture to young people; and wishes Urdd every success in the next 75 years and beyond.
