Catholic Agency For Overseas Development

EDM number 1883 in 2006-07, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 10/07/2007.

That this House notes the excellent work performed by CAFOD, the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, in raising funds so that it can promote long-term development, respond to emergencies, raise public awareness of the causes of poverty, speak out on behalf of poor communities, and promote social justice throughout the world; recognises that CAFOD's fundamental beliefs rest with the principle that all human beings have a right to dignity and respect, and that the world's resources are a gift to be shared equally by all men and women, whatever their race, nationality or religion; pays tribute to those working for CAFOD and the many thousands of volunteers who have supported the work of CAFOD and helped raise funds since its formation in 1961; and urges the Government to continue working with CAFOD in order to help tackle poverty across the world.

This motion has been signed by a total of 56 MPs.
