Sca Health And Social Care

That this House notes the award of an Observer DTI/Cabinet Office/Social Coalition national Enterprising Solutions Award to SCA Health and Social Care for its innovative not-for-profit social enterprise provision of NHS dentistry, domiciliary care, community transport, day care, training and other projects in Portsmouth South and North, Southampton East and West, Bournemouth, Poole, the New Forest, Fareham, Winchester, Havant and throughout the other districts of Hampshire and into Dorset and Wiltshire; further notes SCA's 20,000 plus individual clients in these areas and its 40 contracts with statutory and private bodies; congratulates its 700 staff and its Chief Executive, Reverend Brian Strevens, on their achievement; congratulates the health and other local authorities in the central South region who have partnered with SCA and other social enterprises; commends SCA and other social enterprises to SEEDA and all Departments of State as a flexible, cost effective and local alternative source of service provision; and calls upon the leadership of all political parties to affirm the importance of creative engagement with the social enterprise sector in the regions as part of an agenda for civic renewal, corporate social responsibility and public service innovation.
