One Year Anniversary Of The Kidnapping Of Israeli Soldiers

EDM number 1921 in 2006-07, proposed by David Amess on 16/07/2007.

That this House notes the one year anniversary of the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev which sparked the Second Lebanon War; remembers the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit on 25th June 2006; condemns all hostage taking; further notes that, whilst Hamas secured the release of BBC journalist Alan Johnston, Hamas has failed to release Shalit; further condemns the failure of Hizbullah and Hamas holding these kidnapped soldiers to disclose the condition of these hostages and the continued denial of access of the Red Cross or similar aid agencies; and demands the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 for the unconditional release of abducted soldiers and disarming of Hizbullah.

This motion has been signed by a total of 53 MPs.
