National Road Victim Month

That this House acknowledges that August has been designated National Road Victim Month; regrets that 35,000 people have lost their lives on Britain's roads in the last 10 years; notes that 17th August marks the 111th anniversary of the first recorded fatality in Britain involving a motor vehicle, and that an estimated 30 million people have been killed around the world since then, with 1.3 million killed each year; and calls on the Government to implement further measures to reduce the 3,500 deaths and 500,000 injuries each year resulting from crashes on Britain's roads.
