National Road Victim Month

EDM number 1938 in 2006-07, proposed by Bob Russell on 17/07/2007.

That this House acknowledges that August has been designated National Road Victim Month; regrets that 35,000 people have lost their lives on Britain's roads in the last 10 years; notes that 17th August marks the 111th anniversary of the first recorded fatality in Britain involving a motor vehicle, and that an estimated 30 million people have been killed around the world since then, with 1.3 million killed each year; and calls on the Government to implement further measures to reduce the 3,500 deaths and 500,000 injuries each year resulting from crashes on Britain's roads.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
