Bicentenary Of Aberaeron

EDM number 1951 in 2006-07, proposed by Mark Williams on 18/07/2007.

That this House recognises the bicentenary of Aberaeron, a harbour town founded by Reverend Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne by a Private Act of Parliament obtained in 1807; pays tribute to the important role the town has played in the economic development of the area as a trading port; further notes the industrial influence of the town in the nineteenth century, supporting a local woollen mill and ironworks; is aware of the key contribution Aberaeron continues to play as a focal point for tourists visiting Cardigan Bay and Ceredigion; and calls on the Government to celebrate and continue its support of such coastal towns as Aberaeron and their important role in the heritage of Wales and the United Kingdom as a whole.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
