VAT Registration Delays

That this House is concerned by the extensive VAT registration delays that companies are currently facing as a result of VAT carousel fraud investigations; notes that 12 weeks is the HM Revenue and Customs processing target; believes that 12 weeks is too long; is alarmed that delays of six months are not uncommon; further believes that such delays are completely unacceptable; further notes with concern the crippling effect these delays are having on businesses; and calls on the Government to take urgent action to tackle the backlog.
