Flood Defence Cuts In Carlisle

EDM number 520 in 2006-07, proposed by David Maclean on 18/12/2006.

That this House notes that, because of cuts to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' budget, flood prevention work in the Carlisle area at Rickerby and Low Crosby will not be proceeded with for many years; further notes that this is contrary to the Prime Minister's assurance that everything possible would be done as soon as possible to ensure that people in the Carlisle area would not be flood victims again; and believes that flood prevention schemes for Rickerby and Low Crosby should be given the same high priority as flood prevention in the centre of Carlisle.
