Scottish Power Manweb And Bereaved Relatives

EDM number 599 in 2006-07, proposed by Helen Jones on 10/01/2007.

That this House deplores the practice of Scottish Power Manweb of continuing to forward quarterly bills to the relatives or executors of deceased persons even when it has been notified of a death and told that the property is empty; notes its policy of expecting relatives to ring and argue against these bills before it will take action; believes that this is a blatant attempt to obtain money for electricity which has not been used; and calls on Scottish Power Manweb to cease this practice and to initiate a more compassionate policy for dealing with bereaved relatives.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
