Department For Business, Enterprise And Regulatory Reform

EDM number 1164 in 2007-08, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 11/03/2008.
Categorised under the topic of Central government.

That this House believes that the new name for the former Trade and Industry Committee, Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, does not resonate with the public; considers that both the Trade and Industry Committee and the Department for Trade and Industry had national and international recognition and that the name highlighted the main areas of responsibility in a succinct manner; and calls on the Government to change the name of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform back to the Department for Trade and Industry, and to bring forward proposals to change the name of the Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Committee back to the Trade and Industry Committee.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
