Establishment Of A Turkish-Armenian Historical Commission

EDM number 185 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Laxton on 12/11/2007.
Categorised under the topic of Eastern Europe.

That this House welcomes the proposal to establish a Joint Historical Commission comprised of Turkish, Armenian and independent third party historians and experts to research and examine all relevant historical materials to try and uncover the true nature of the events of 1915 between the Turks and Armenians in Anatolia; recognises that this proposal provides a constructive step to reach agreement about the said period of history; and urges the establishment of the proposed commission in the hope that the commission's findings will act as a catalyst in the normalisation of Turkish-Armenian relations.

This motion has been signed by a total of 60 MPs, 3 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
