Ritalin

EDM number 225 in 2007-08, proposed by Paul Flynn on 13/11/2007.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families, Health finance, Health services and Medicine.

That this House notes that a 16 year study of the outcome of the use of Ritalin on children concluded that over a three-year period it produced no demonstrable improvement in children's behaviour, but that this amphetamine-type drug stunted growth; notes that the prescription of Ritalin has increased threefold since 1999 at a current cost to the NHS of £28 million; and calls for the transfer of this sum to therapies that are beneficial.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
