That this House notes the success of the UK's only official and public observation of the United Nations International Day of Peace and Non-Violence organised by Peace Parade UK that was held in Rochdale on 21st September 2008 and the attendance at this event by many public figures including Colin Parry MBE of Foundation for Peace and Nancy Dell'Olio of Truce International; further notes the positive response of hundreds of local people; calls on the Government to adopt formally 21st September as the UN International Day of Peace and Non-Violence; and requests that all hon. Members call on their local authority to promote this unique and important day.
