CLOSURE OF LEEDS TETLEY'S BREWERY

EDM number 202 in 2008-09, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 09/12/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Employment and Manufacturing industries.

That this House is dismayed by the announcement by Carlsberg Tetley that it intends to close the Leeds Tetley's Brewery with 170 staff facing an uncertain future; notes that Tetley's ales have been brewed in Leeds for 186 years and that Tetley is an iconic Leeds brand; believes that if Tetley's is not brewed in Leeds, using Leeds water, it cannot claim to be a Leeds beer; and backs the campaign by the Yorkshire Evening Post calling upon Carlsberg to ensure that the manufacture and production of Tetley's stays in Leeds where it belongs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
