Detective Constable Stephen Oake

EDM number 518 in 2008-09, proposed by Tony Lloyd on 20/01/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Police.

That this House applauds the decision to award the Queen's Gallantry Medal posthumously to Detective Constable Stephen Oake, who was stabbed to death in the course of his police duties in January 2003; recognises that this award is only granted for gallantry of an exceptional order for selfless, brave acts undertaken in the prevention of crime or the arrest of dangerous criminals; believes that this is a fitting tribute to DC Oake's dutiful service to the community; further believes that the award is a tribute to the work of the wider police community in Greater Manchester and beyond, for the dangers that society calls upon them to face; and hopes that this award will offer public recognition to Stephen Oake's wife Lesley and family for their permanent loss.

This motion has been signed by a total of 41 MPs.
