Severe Weather And Public Transport In London

EDM number 657 in 2008-09, proposed by Diane Abbott on 03/02/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Buses and Railways.

That this House notes that a heavy fall of snow brought London to a standstill on 2 February; further notes that this brought widespread unfavourable publicity in the international media; further notes that in the 1960s and 1970s public transport continued to run in the face of similar climatic conditions; believes that it is vital that London, as an international global transport hub, should not be shut down so easily; and calls on the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, to take responsibility for this shameful state of affairs and to take steps to ensure that there is better co-ordination and the appropriate level of resources in future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
