Normandy Veterans And Lloyds Tsb

EDM number 772 in 2008-09, proposed by George Galloway on 11/02/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Financial services and Veterans.

That this House condemns Lloyds TSB Bank plc on its refusal of a bank account to Captain Peter Hodge, Honorary General Secretary of the Normandy Veterans Association for the purpose of funding some 500 D-Day veterans to Normandy for the 65th anniversary of Operation Overlord; and believes that Captain Hodge's Overlord List deserves the respect of everyone in Britain, including bankers, as they are the last survivors of an epic battle on which our freedom as a people turned; expresses its disgust at Lloyds TSB's shameful treatment of the veterans; and believes that just when it seemed that the reputation of bankers could not sink lower, Lloyds TSB has just caused the standing of this blighted profession to slip another rung.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
