That this House congratulates the British winners and nominees at this year's Oscars; notes in particular the success of Film4's Slumdog Millionaire, which won eight awards and congratulates its producer, Christian Colson, head of Film4 Tessa Ross, director Danny Boyle, writer Simon Beaufoy, composer AR Rahman, lyricist Gulzar, cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle and sound mixers Ian Tapp, Richard Pryke and Resul Pookutty; further congratulates British actress Kate Winslet who won best actress for The Reader and Michael O'Conner, winner of achievement in costume design with The Duchess, British producer Simon Chinn and director James March of Man on Wire winner of best documentary; further congratulates other British nominees including Frost/Nixon, The Reader, Revolutionary Road, Happy-Go-Lucky, In Bruges, Peter Morgan, David Hare, Martin McDonagh, Mike Leigh, Kristi Zea, Debra Schutt and Albert Wolsky; and applauds this recognition of the continued talent and success of the British film industry.
