Use Of Mephedrone

EDM number 1131 in 2009-10, proposed by Nigel Evans on 18/03/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Drugs misuse.

That this House notes with concern the recent death of two teenagers after taking the legal drug mephedrone, otherwise known as m-cat or meow-meow; further notes that mephedrone is widely available on the internet at a cost much lower than that of illegal drugs such as cocaine and that many more deaths may occur due to this combination of low cost and wide availability; further notes that little research has been done into the long-term effects of this drug; and calls on the Government to bring forward plans to outlaw the use and possession of mephedrone as a matter of urgency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
