Ashes Broadcast Revenue And Local Cricket

EDM number 977 in 2009-10, proposed by Mark Oaten on 02/03/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Broadcasting and Sports.

That this House urges the Government to consider the financial impact that moving the home Ashes test series to terrestrial television will have on county and local cricket clubs up and down the country; recognises that the revenue generated from current broadcast arrangements enables cricket clubs to provide schemes and facilities to the local community; is concerned these would come under threat from reduced income; notes that moving the Ashes to terrestrial television would end the evening highlights show; and calls on the Government to preserve the existing television test arrangements for test cricket for the sustainability of local cricket.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
