Gender And Football Association Rules

EDM number 2018 in 2010-12, proposed by Glenda Jackson on 30/06/2011.
Categorised under the topic of House of Commons.

That this House calls on the Football Association (FA) to abandon their outdated rules, which deny membership of the House of Commons football team to all hon. and Rt hon. lady Members; further calls on the Select Committee for Culture, Media and Sport to summon the FA to explain this gross intrusion into the privileges of this House, which ensure all hon. and Rt hon. Members, regardless of gender, are equal; and reminds the FA that their ban possibly undermines equality legislation and does nothing to encourage female participation in the beautiful game.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
