Bilateral Relations With Brazil

That this House congratulates Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the former President of Brazil, on his successful leadership, which has seen Brazil emerge as an important and influential member of the international community; acknowledges the progress Brazil has made in social, economic and political developments, as illustrated by its commitment to democracy and rule of law; notes that Brazil has a significant role to play in climate change and free trade negotiations; commemorates British support for Brazil's integration into a reformed United Nations Security Council; welcomes Dilma Rousseff, the first female President of Brazil, into office; and calls for renewed attention to British-Brazilian bilateral trade in a decade of shared Olympic sporting excellence.
