Arrest Of Opposition Leaders In Iran

EDM number 1510 in 2010-12, proposed by Robert Halfon on 01/03/2011.
Categorised under the topics of Iran and Prisons.

That this House condemns the reported arrest of Iranian opposition leaders Mirhossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi, who were already held under house arrest; notes that they were apparently moved to the Heshmatiyeh prison in Tehran after both leaders' websites had carried calls for protests in Tehran, and openly resisted the repression and human rights abuses of the Iranian regime; and calls on the British Government urgently to increase the economic sanctions against Iran in line with current sanctions against Libya.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
