Promotion Of Afc Wimbledon To The Football League

EDM number 1879 in 2010-12, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 07/06/2011.
Categorised under the topic of Sports.

That this House applauds the outstanding achievement of AFC Wimbledon in being promoted to the Football League nine years after being formed, when the Football Association and its three-man sub-committee, to its everlasting shame, approved `franchise football' by sanctioning the relocation of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes in 2002 and the renaming of the club as MK Dons; and congratulates those fans who refused to accept the destruction of Wimbledon FC and rebuilt the club, which eight seasons and five promotions later, has rejoined the Football League.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
