Funding For Cornish Services

EDM number 253 in 2010-12, proposed by Stephen Gilbert on 16/06/2010.

That this House notes with concern that Cornwall's public services have suffered from decades of under-funding from consecutive governments; further notes that Cornwall is one of the poorest parts of the European Union; recognises that tough choices need to be made to tackle the budget deficit; welcomes the Western Morning News, A Fair Cut campaign, which makes the case that under-funded areas like Cornwall should not suffer disproportionate levels of cuts; and calls on the Government to set up an independent funding commission similar to the Holtham Commission in Wales to examine the level of under-funding of Cornish services.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
