Centenary Of The Dewar Report

EDM number 2754 in 2010-12, proposed by Charles Kennedy on 22/02/2012.

That this House notes that the Dewar Report into healthcare in the Highlands and Islands was published one hundred years ago; recognises that the report highlighted the desperate state of medical provision across the North of Scotland; further notes that the report recommended the establishment of the Highlands and Islands Medical Service, which established the right of communities to have a local, state-funded doctor; and further notes with pride that the new service acted as a model for state healthcare and led directly to the development of the National Health Service.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
