Waterloo International Station

EDM number 949 in 2010-12, proposed by Tom Brake on 02/11/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Railways.

That this House notes that the total cost of keeping the five disused ex-Eurostar platforms at Waterloo International Station closed so far has been revealed as exceeding more than 4 million of taxpayers' money;further notes that the numerous filming and other events at the empty platforms, such as the recent Railway Children production, have generated just a mere 61,852 over the same period;further notes that many commuters who use Waterloo Station face overcrowding on platforms and trains despite being confronted with five empty train platforms; further notes that BRB Residuary Ltd is now set for abolition, with its functions to be transferred to the Secretary of State for Transport; and calls on the Government to ensure these huge platforms are put back into domestic use as quickly as possible.

This motion has been signed by a total of 29 MPs.
