MoD Fire And Rescue And Police Services

EDM number 1123 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 27/02/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Armed forces, Emergency services, Fire services, Military operations and Police.

That this House notes that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Fire and Rescue Service is a service that is deployed to war zones; believes that the Public Service Pensions Bill must include the same provision for retirement for Ministry of Defence Fire and Rescue Service and Police Service as other uniformed services; further notes that this is missing because of an oversight by Lord Hutton who was commissioned to compile the pension reform report on which this Bill is based; further notes that Lord Hutton said on the floor of the House of Lords that if he had known he would have specifically included these MoD personnel; and commends to this House the amendment tabled and passed in the House of Lords to put these service personnel on the same retirement age as their civilian counterparts, all of whom are undertaking vital and dangerous jobs for society.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
