Contagious Equine Metritis

EDM number 677 in 2012-13, proposed by Alan Meale on 05/11/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Animal diseases and Animals.

That this House is aware of the recent Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' decision, taken without discussion with the thoroughbredequine breeding industry, to denotify the contagious equine metritis disease in the UK, this despite the fact that previous reported cases of it in non-thoroughbreds resulted in the ban of British bloodstock to India costing millions of pounds per year in lost export revenues; believes that the Department would better serve the nation's thoroughbred breeding industry if before changing such arrangements it held in-depth discussions with the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association and other representative bodies to identify more sensible reforms.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
