Giving Tuesday

EDM number 614 in 2015-16, proposed by Nick Hurd on 27/10/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Charities.

That this House notes that the UK is consistently ranked as one of the most generous countries in the world; acknowledges the important contribution that charities and voluntary groups, donors and volunteers make in each constituency; celebrates the success of the #GivingTuesday campaign in the UK in 2014 last year, when the campaign trended on Twitter for 11 hours and more than £2,500 was donated each minute through Visa alone; praises charities, businesses and members of the public for uniting to take action in support of a good cause; welcomes the continued growth of the #GivingTuesday movement, both in the UK and across the world; further praises the hundreds of businesses and charities who work with the Charities Aid Foundation to show how much of an impact we can make when we give; and calls for hon. Members of this House to take action in support of a good cause on #GivingTuesday, which this year takes place on 1 December 2015.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
