That this House notes the success of Scotland's Andy Murray in achieving the hard-won place as the men's number one ranked player in the world for tennis singles; celebrates the prestige and honour that Andy Murray has brought to his community, Scotland and the UK by representing everyone in the world of sport; commends the fact that Mr Murray has become the first British singles player to be world number one since computerised rankings began in 1973, thus cementing his place in sporting history; recognises Mr Murray's magnificent achievement as an inspiration to all, particularly young people, who can see his success as evidence that hard work and commitment can lead to tremendous attainment; welcomes Mr Murray's contribution to Scottish, UK and world sport and how his steadfast dedication promotes fitness and health; congratulates all who work with Mr Murray and supported him in his career up until this point; and wishes him every success for the future.
