Brain Tumour Research

EDM number 1075 in 2017-19, proposed by Jim Shannon on 14/03/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Diseases, Health finance and Research and innovation.

That this House notes the Department of Health and Social Care task and finish working group report on brain tumour research which seeks to increase the level and impact of brain tumour research and congratulates them on progress to date; further notes that brain tumours are indiscriminate and continue to kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer; pays tribute to Baroness Tessa Jowell in her campaign against brain cancer; supports calls for the Government to give a clear statement of how funding for brain tumour research will increase in addition to the next 10 years over the commitment of £20 million from the National Institute for Health Research and of what level is adequate overall; looks forward to receiving a copy of the task and finish working group report and its recommendations; and calls for clarification of how the recommendations are to be advanced, monitored, and placed on public record.
