Mental Health Services In South London

EDM number 895 in 2017-19, proposed by Helen Hayes on 01/02/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Health finance and Mental health.

That this House is concerned about funding for mental health services in South London; notes that insufficient funding in South London has led to increased waiting lists for assessment and therapy, increased waiting times in accident and emergency departments for referral to mental health beds, very high occupancy rates and an extremely challenging medical environment; recognises the effect that underfunding has had on staff morale and workloads; is further concerned about high staff vacancy rates in many Trusts; and calls on the Government to review current NHS spending standards for mental health, to ensure future funding for mental health is properly ring-fenced and to ensure that future funding allocations take greater account of inequality, deprivation and population changes.
