Parliament And BBC Radio Four

EDM number 496 in 1998-99, proposed by Paul Tyler on 29/03/1999.

That this House notes that the warnings of the Right honourable Member for Manchester Gorton, the honourable Member for South Staffordshire, the honourable Member for Rotherham and the honourable Member for North Cornwall, amongst others, that changes to BBC Radio 4's parliamentary programme scheduling would result in dramatic falls in audiences have been abundantly fulfilled, with three-quarters of listeners to Yesterday in Parliament and two thirds of those for The Week in Westminster being lost; and urges the BBC Chairman to act on his promise to reverse the changes if these warnings proved correct.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
