Regulation Of Body Piercing Of Minors
EDM number 183 in 1999-00, proposed by David Chidgey on 13/12/1999.
That this House notes the great concern caused, particularly among parents, by children as young as 12 years old undergoing cosmetic body piercing, without effective regulations or the need for consent by a parent or guardian, and that surveys among general practitioners show that a requirement for medical treatment following body piercing is widespread; further notes that the Government recognises that primary legislation should be introduced, Official Report, 12th May, column 288; and calls upon the Government to include such legislation in the Queen's Speech.
This motion has been signed by a total of 42 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
