ENGINEERING AND THE UK'S ECONOMIC FUTURE

That this House recognises the contribution which engineering makes to all parts of the United Kingdom's economy, from IT to transport to manufacturing to sport and leisure; believes that it has a vital role to play in the United Kingdom's economic future; supports the industry's moves to ensure it remains at the heart of the knowledge driven economy; appreciates the value which engineering brings to the North East and Yorkshire, employing over 164,000; encourages the media to give this vital profession the attention and recognition it merits; and urges the Government to protect and promote the interests of engineers in order to safeguard Britain's economic future.
