Vision Aid Overseas

EDM number 1147 in 2001-02, proposed by Laura Moffatt on 17/04/2002.

That this House welcomes the work of Crawley based charity, Vision Aid Overseas, in helping people in the developing world with their visual problems; notes the contribution of the many UK qualified opticians who have volunteered to use their skills overseas in Vision Aid projects since it started in 1985; recognises the very real difference this work has made to thousands of people in a total of 19 countries visited so far; further welcomes the involvement of a variety of partners including eight of Her Majesty's prisons in the United Kingdom, Rotary Clubs, schools, churches and others who help Vision Aid Overseas collect, clean, sort and re-cycle unwanted spectacles ready for transport overseas; and calls on honourable Members to join in congratulating Vision Aid Overseas on their work and in celebrating their 100th project in Ghana which begins on 18th May by encouraging their constituents to be involved with this excellent scheme.

This motion has been signed by a total of 48 MPs.
