Gulf War Illnesses

EDM number 1543 in 2001-02, proposed by Alan Meale on 02/07/2002.

That this House notes the recent visit to Westminster by the US Congressional Sub Committee to take evidence from British witnesses on Gulf War illnesses; further notes that the visit has greatly heightened awareness of the shortcomings in the way the matter has been handled by allied forces and the lengthy time period that elapsed before the causes of the illness were sought; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to agree to a full public inquiry being held to examine these shortcomings, so that future members of our armed forces are protected from such failings.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
