Hoax Callers

EDM number 115 in 2002-03, proposed by John Robertson on 18/11/2002.

That this House is deeply concerned that 25,000 hoax calls are being made each week to the emergency services which accounts for 50 per cent. of all calls made; notes that this puts lives at risk and places enormous strain on the emergency services; believes that making such calls at any time is dangerous and irresponsible, but that doing so during the firefighters strike is particularly appalling; and calls for custodial sentences to be administered to those who perpetrate such thoughtless action.
