Global Fund For Health

EDM number 1281 in 2002-03, proposed by Neil Gerrard on 21/05/2003.

That this House believes that the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria has shown the capacity to mobilise significant new financial resources to fund high-quality proposals from developing countries but notes that it does not have enough resources to fund Round 3 proposals in October 2003; further notes the US government is willing to donate US$1 billion to the Fund but only if matched by money from other rich countries; and calls upon the Secretary of State for International Development to urgently announce new funding for the Global Fund to allow Round 3 to go ahead and to commit significant future resources in partnership with other European countries.

This motion has been signed by a total of 75 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
