Macmillan Cancer Relief Campaign
EDM number 307 in 2002-03, proposed by Ian Gibson on 05/12/2002.
That this House congratulates Macmillan Cancer Relief on the launch of its 'Get It Spent Where It's Meant' campaign at the Parliamentary reception on 4th December; notes that honourable Members from all parties supported Macmillan's call for all honourable Members to use their local influence to ensure that the new NHS Local Delivery Plans in England deliver for local people living with cancer, so that cancer services money gets spent where it is meant; further notes the unique opportunity that the new three-year funding scheme offers to track cancer services money from the outset and so avoid any recurrence of the cancer services money not reaching the frontline, as highlighted by this House's Science and Technology Committee; supports Macmillan's emphasis on money also being spent on services that make the biggest difference to the quality of life of people living with cancer; and calls on the Government, in partnership with Macmillan, people living with cancer and honourable Members of all parties, to redouble its efforts to ensure cancer service money gets spent where it is meant.
