THIRD NATIONAL MEN'S HEALTH WEEK
EDM number 1344 in 2003-04, proposed by Howard Stoate on 14/06/2004.
That this House notes the third National Men's Health Week on Men and Cancer co-ordinated by the Men's Health Forum; notes that one in three men will be diagnosed with cancer and welcomes the Forum's briefing paper, Men and Cancer, reporting that action is urgently required across a range of cancers where men's lifestyles and reluctance to seek help take their toll; welcomes the call for the development of innovative and targeted work with men and for gender-specific health policies; and urges primary care trusts to adopt the document's action plan which includes setting cancer targets for men and establishing services such as MOT health checks for men in workplaces, social clubs and sports venues.
