Launch Of Everyday Sport

EDM number 1349 in 2003-04, proposed by Jon Trickett on 14/06/2004.

That this House notes that 24 million adults in the UK are now obese or overweight; recognises that sedentary lifestyles cost the economy ú8.2 billion per year and cause a variety of health problems including coronary heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and depression; welcomes the Chief Medical Officer's report recommending that adults should be active at least five times a week; further welcomes the launch of Everyday Sport, Sport England's pilot marketing campaign in the North East of England to increase awareness of the benefits of participation in sport and physical activity; and calls on all honourable Members to lend their full support to the campaign by being physically active themselves.

This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
