Prevenar And The Case Of Lachlan Fewster

EDM number 174 in 2003-04, proposed by Keith Vaz on 01/12/2003.

That this House notes with sorrow and regret the death of two year old Lachlan Fewster in April; further notes the fact that his death was caused by pneumococcal meningitis which could have been prevented had the drug Prevenar been more readily available; acknowledges the fact that Prevenar is routinely used in the US and in the rest of Europe but not in the UK owing to its cost; and urges the Department of Health to make Prevenar more readily available to prevent the possibility of further deaths in this way.

This motion has been signed by a total of 54 MPs.
