Smokeless Tobacco(2)

EDM number 261 in 2003-04, proposed by Paul Flynn on 10/12/2003.

That this House welcomes the confirmation from Cancer Research UK Action on Smoking and Health and the Royal College of Physicians that some forms of smokeless tobacco are between 500 and 1,000 times less hazardous than smoking tobacco; agrees with the conclusion that, if Britain followed the Swedish pattern of smokeless tobacco use, tobacco-related deaths among men would be cut by 44,000 a year; and urges the Government to end the ban on the sale of snus which will allow inveterate smokers access to a safer alternative that would add several years to their life expectancies.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
