S.p.a.n.a And Iraq
EDM number 887 in 2003-04, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 23/03/2004.
That this House congratulates the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) for its campaign to provide veterinary aid for working animals in post-conflict Iraq; recognises that SPANA's veterinary aid missions in the country since the ceasefire, upon the request of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, have provided the necessary feed and drugs to treat over 80,000 animals in Iraq, therefore helping the humanitarian effort by enabling the Iraqi people to rely on the working animals they desperately need to rebuild their country; and calls on the Secretary of State for International Development to urge the Governing Council in Iraq to look at the more basic solutions, such as improving veterinary care, that are critical to the long-term restructure of Iraq.
This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
