EDM number 190 in 2004-05, proposed by Anne McIntosh on 25/11/2004.

That this House believes in the crucial importance of conserving the elephant population for future generations; fully supports the efforts of the Council for the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) signatory countries to eradicate elephant poaching; endorses the agreements made by CITES to ban trade in ivory and urges the CITES Secretariat and Standing Committee to resolve to continue with this ban.
