Animal Insulin

EDM number 598 in 2004-05, proposed by Edward Davey on 26/01/2005.

That this House expresses concern at reports from the Insulin Dependent Diabetes trust that NovoNordisk is threatening to cease production of animal-based insulin products, one of only two current suppliers of such insulin in the UK; acknowledges the reduction of warning symptoms of an impending hypoglycaemic attack experienced by some diabetics who were switched from animal based to synthetic human insulins; notes the importance of providing easy and consistent access to both types of insulin; and calls on the Government to ensure a reliable supply of animal insulin is secured for the foreseeable future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 87 MPs.
